With the widespread use of electronic products such as computers, televisions, and monitoring devices, LCD screens have become important tools in people's work and life. However, many users, due to a lack of correct usage knowledge, have experienced problems such as brightness reduction and color distortion on the screens, which have shortened their service life. Recently, professional electronic equipment maintenance institutions, based on technical data and actual cases, have summarized a set of correct usage methods for LCD screens to help users effectively extend the service life of the equipment.

Reasonably adjust the brightness and contrast, reduce panel wear

Professional maintenance engineers point out that the backlight module of LCD screens is the core component that affects the lifespan. Excessive use of high brightness will accelerate the aging of backlit LED or CCFL lamps. It is recommended that users adjust the brightness according to the usage environment: in well-lit offices or living rooms, the brightness can be adjusted to 50%-70% to meet visual needs; in night or dim environments, the brightness can be reduced to 30%-40%, while combining 20%-30% contrast, which can protect eyesight and reduce the load on the backlight module. In addition, avoid continuously adjusting the screen brightness to 100%. After testing, continuous high-brightness use will shorten the LCD screen's lifespan by more than 30%.

Enable screen protection and timed sleep to avoid static image damage

"Displaying the same static image for a long time can easily cause 'ghosting' on the LCD panel, which is irreversible damage," said the technical director of the maintenance institution. Users should promptly enable the screen protection program when not operating the equipment, especially when office workers use computers to process documents and design drawings. It is recommended to set an automatic screen protection for 5-10 minutes. For devices that are not used for a long time, such as monitoring screens and advertising machines, the system can be set to enable timed sleep function, allowing the device to sleep for 15-20 minutes every 4-6 hours to reduce the continuous working pressure on the panel pixels. Data shows that with the correct use of the sleep function, the pixel decay speed of the screen can be reduced by 25%.

Scientific cleaning and standard operation to prevent physical damage

Improper daily cleaning is also a common cause of LCD screen failures. Professionals remind that when cleaning, the screen should be turned off and the power disconnected first. Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe the screen, avoiding using rough materials such as paper towels or rags, to prevent scratching the panel coating. If the screen has stubborn stains, a small amount of pure water can be sprayed on the cloth (do not directly spray on the screen), and gently wipe with it. Do not use chemical agents such as alcohol or detergents, as they may corrode the screen protection layer. In addition, when moving the screen, hold the bottom and back of the screen to avoid holding the edge or pressing the screen with one hand, to prevent internal wires from loosening or the panel from cracking.

Control the usage environment and stay away from extreme conditions

LCD screens are sensitive to environmental temperature and humidity. The suitable usage temperature is 10℃-35℃, and the humidity is 40%-60%. Users should avoid placing the screen in direct sunlight to prevent accelerated aging of the screen; at the same time, stay away from temperature-changing areas such as air conditioning vents and near heaters to avoid excessive temperature differences that cause panel condensation or damage to internal components. During the rainy season, regularly turn on the screen for 1-2 hours to use the device's own cooling to remove moisture and reduce the risk of circuit board moisture and short circuit.

Professional institutions emphasize that as long as the correct usage and maintenance methods are mastered, the service life of ordinary LCD screens can be extended from 3-5 years to 6-8 years, not only reducing electronic waste but also saving users' costs for replacing the equipment. Currently, relevant maintenance guidelines have been distributed to the public for free through the institution's official website and offline service points. Users can obtain personalized usage suggestions based on their equipment models.
