Latest company news about Understanding IPS Monitors: A Practical Analysis of Display Technologies, Bibuke Offers Multi-Application Solutions

In the current display device market, IPS (In-Plane Switching) displays are one of the choices for many consumers and industry clients. This type of display leverages unique technical features and functions in various scenarios. So, what exactly is an IPS display? The Dongguan Bibuke Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Bibuke"), which focuses on the display field, explains how it applies IPS technology to actual products. What is an IPS display? Core features clearly presented

In simple terms, an IPS display is a liquid crystal display that uses plane switching technology. The key difference from traditional TN (Twisted Nematic) displays lies in the way the liquid crystal molecules move. Inside the IPS panel, the electrodes are arranged horizontally and parallelly. When an electric current passes through, the liquid crystal molecules rotate within the panel plane instead of moving up and down.

This technical design brings two obvious advantages. First, it offers a wide viewing angle. Whether viewed from the front or at 178 degrees from the side, the color and brightness of an IPS display remain relatively stable, avoiding the color shift and dimming issues that occur when viewing from the side in traditional displays, making it suitable for scenarios where multiple people need to view the screen simultaneously, such as document presentations in office meetings. Second, the color reproduction is relatively stable. The IPS panel natively supports 8-bit color depth, capable of presenting 16.77 million colors, combined with basic color management, it can better restore the original colors of the picture in tasks requiring high color accuracy, such as image processing and video editing.

However, IPS displays also have some limitations. Due to its own backlight structure, the contrast of IPS displays is usually lower than that of VA (Vertical Alignment) panel displays. When displaying dark scenes, the detail performance is slightly insufficient. Additionally, some early IPS displays had slow response speeds, but with technological development, many products now have response speeds that meet daily usage requirements, although there is still room for improvement in meeting the extremely fast response requirements of high-end gaming.

Bibuke: Based on IPS technology, covering multiple scenarios

As an enterprise that has developed in the display field for many years, Bibuke, founded in 2002, gradually established a complete industrial chain from research and development, production to assembly. It has also obtained international certifications such as ISO 9001 and TS-16949, and has corresponding standards for product quality control.

In terms of IPS product layout, Bibuke currently has an IPS display module product line ranging from 1.54 inches to 10.4 inches. These products have a wide range of applications. Small-sized modules can be used in smart watches, portable media players, etc., providing clear display screens for devices; large-sized modules can be adapted to industrial control instruments, car dashboards, etc., meeting the display requirements in industrial production and vehicle driving.
To meet the special needs of different scenarios, Bibuke has also made corresponding product optimizations. For outdoor-use devices, the IPS module it launched has a brightness of 800-1000 CD/m², which can reduce the impact of direct sunlight on the screen visibility; for fields such as medical care and industrial control that require high color accuracy, through hardware calibration technology, the color accuracy of the IPS module is improved to meet industry usage standards.

In addition, Bibuke has combined IPS technology with touch control and backlight technology to develop IPS touch display modules. This module supports both resistive and capacitive touch control methods. At the same time, through an optical bonding process, it enhances the display clarity and durability of the screen. It has already been applied in some intelligent terminal devices.

Industry perspective: The application of IPS technology is becoming more diverse.

From the perspective of market development, early IPS displays were mainly concentrated in the high-end product sector due to their high production costs. With the maturity of production processes, the threshold for the application of IPS technology has gradually decreased. Nowadays, it is widely used in mid-to-low-end consumer electronic devices and professional fields, promoting the overall improvement of display quality.

A market-related official of Bibuke stated that currently, the fields of IoT and wearable devices are developing rapidly, and the demand for small-sized and highly reliable IPS display modules is gradually increasing. Leveraging the existing IPS product layout and backlight structure design experience, the company will continue to focus on these emerging fields and explore more application possibilities of IPS technology.

Industry analysts believe that in the future, with the combination of Mini LED and other backlight technologies with IPS technology, IPS displays are expected to further improve in performance such as contrast and brightness, thus expanding more application scenarios. However, during the technological development process, how to balance performance improvement and cost control remains an important issue that enterprises need to consider.
