When choosing an LCD display, several factors need to be considered comprehensively. Here are some key points for purchasing:
Usage and scenarios:
Office use: Generally, the requirements for screen color and response time are not high. A 24-27 inch screen with a resolution of 1080p or 2K and a brightness of around 300cd/m² is sufficient. A contrast ratio of 300:1 can meet basic needs.
Game and entertainment: Attention should be paid to the response time of the screen. Products with a response time of 5ms or less should be selected to reduce screen flickering. At the same time, high refresh rates (such as 144Hz, 240Hz) can bring a smoother gaming experience. The resolution can be chosen as 1080p, 2K or 4K based on personal budget and graphics card performance.
Professional design: High accuracy in color and color gamut coverage are required. A screen with a high color gamut (such as over 95% of Adobe RGB) and high resolution (2K or 4K) should be selected. The contrast ratio should be above 600:1 to ensure accurate color reproduction and detailed display.
Outdoor display: High brightness is required, typically reaching 1000nits or higher to ensure that the content remains clear in strong light. Consider the screen's weather resistance, such as waterproof, dustproof, and sunproof.
Resolution: Common resolutions include 1080p (1920x1080), 2K (approximately 2560x1440), and 4K (3840x2160). The higher the resolution, the clearer the image display and the richer the details. However, on smaller screens, the advantage of high resolution may not be obvious, and high resolution requires corresponding display interfaces and graphics card support.
Brightness and contrast:
Brightness: Usually measured in nits. High-brightness screens maintain good visibility in bright environments, but may result in higher energy consumption and affect visual comfort. Generally, indoor screens should have a brightness of 300-500cd/m².
Contrast: It refers to the ratio of white state brightness to black state brightness. High contrast makes images appear clearer and more three-dimensional. Typical contrast ranges from 100:1 to 2000:1.
Color gamut: Color gamut coverage determines the types and vividness of colors that the screen can display. Common color gamut standards include sRGB, Adobe RGB, and DCI-P3. For ordinary office and daily use, sRGB coverage of 100% is sufficient; for professional design, film production, etc., it is recommended to choose screens with higher Adobe RGB or DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.
Response time: Refers to the speed of pixel light-dark switching, usually measured in milliseconds (ms). The shorter the response time, the less ghosting occurs when displaying fast-moving images. For gaming, video playback, etc., screens with a response time of 5ms or less should be selected.
Panel type: Common types include TN, IPS, VA, etc. TN panels have fast response times but poor color and viewing angle performance; IPS panels have high color reproduction accuracy and wide viewing angles, but lower contrast; VA panels have high contrast and excellent black display, but slower response times.
Uniformity: Uniformity refers to the consistency of brightness and color in different areas of the screen. Good uniformity can avoid problems such as local over-bright or over-dark areas and uneven color. When purchasing, you can check product reviews or observe the screen in person to understand its uniformity performance.
Interface type: Common interfaces include VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc. The interface type determines the quality of signal transmission and the compatibility of the equipment. Ensure that the interface of the selected screen is compatible with your device (such as a computer, graphics card, etc.).
Brand and after-sales: Choose products from well-known brands, as they usually have better guarantees in terms of quality, craftsmanship and after-sales service. You can refer to other users' reviews and usage experiences to understand the reputation of the brand and the reliability of the product. At the same time, pay attention to the warranty period and after-sales service policies of the product, so that you can get timely solutions when encountering problems during use.
