Recently, with the rapid evolution of the Internet of Things, wearable devices, and DIY maker industries, small single-color OLED displays have broken through the application limitations of traditional display devices and achieved wide penetration in various fields such as consumer electronics, industrial control, and smart hardware. They have become an important force driving the upgrade of lightweight displays and the market demand for them has continued to rise.


As an important branch of the OLED display family, small single-color OLED displays use a single color (commonly white, blue, yellow-green, etc.) as the display carrier. Relying on the self-illuminating property of organic materials, they do not require an additional backlight module, and have unique advantages in terms of volume, power consumption, and display quality. Compared with traditional LCD displays, their thickness can be as low as 1.45 millimeters, and the weight is only about 2 grams. In terms of technology, current small single-color OLED displays have achieved comprehensive performance upgrades. Mainstream products support I2C/IIC dual-line communication protocols, and only two lines are needed to complete the connection with the main control board. The wiring is simple and no complex soldering is required. Even beginners in electronics can quickly get started. At the same time, they are compatible with mainstream main control devices such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi, reducing the application threshold. In terms of display quality, their pixel resolution covers mainstream specifications such as 128×32 to 128×64, with high contrast, clear and sharp text, and self-illuminating characteristics, making it excellent in low-light environments. It also has a wide viewing angle and fast response capability, with a working temperature range covering -30°C to +70°C, suitable for various complex usage scenarios.


The diversified expansion of application scenarios has become the core driving force for the rise of small single-color OLED displays. In the consumer electronics field, they are widely used in smart watches, Bluetooth speakers, electronic pets, etc., serving as information display terminals to convey key information such as time, battery level, and songs; in the DIY maker field, it becomes the preferred accessory for beginners, suitable for making projects such as temperature and humidity display devices, small game consoles, and desktop ornaments, with diverse gameplay and controllable costs; in the industrial control field, it is embedded in small instruments and equipment control panels to display key information such as production data and equipment operation status, helping to improve production efficiency; in the smart wearables and Internet of Things field, its ultra-thin and low-power advantages make it the core display component for smart rings, cold chain monitoring nodes, and smart locks, achieving precise information transmission.


It is worth noting that with the continuous maturation of technology and large-scale production, the cost performance of small single-color OLED displays continues to improve, further promoting their market penetration. Currently, mainstream products with specifications such as 0.91 inches, 0.96 inches, and 1.3 inches have formed a complete supply chain system, providing various installation methods such as through-hole and pad soldering, and supporting customized sizes and resolutions to meet the individualized needs of different industries. The Even Realities G2 smart glasses launched earlier have adopted a single-color green Micro LED display, with high brightness and low power consumption characteristics, becoming a typical application case for daily-wear smart devices, and also confirming the broad market potential of small single-color display devices.


Industry insiders say that in the future, with the dense deployment of IoT terminals and the continuous rise of maker culture, small single-color OLED displays will further iterate towards low power consumption, high resolution, and miniaturization, and expand to more specialized scenarios such as medical portable devices, agricultural monitoring, and security warning. Its core advantages of "practicality, convenience and low cost" will continue to fill the gaps in the mid-to-low-end display market, providing strong support for the lightweight and intelligent upgrade of equipment in various fields, and driving the display industry into a more segmented and diversified development stage.
